Ecopana’s Director, Krenare H. Salihu, met with the Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, Fitore Pacolli, and Deputy Minister Avni Zogiani to discuss the current condition of the Mirusha dam and the concrete steps required to address it.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed the existing technical documentation, analyses conducted over the years, and the urgent need for timely intervention. It was clearly emphasized that the situation requires coordinated institutional action to prevent further environmental degradation and mitigate flood risks.

The issue of the Mirusha dam is not new. Ecopana has been engaged for an extended period through professional assessments, technical reports, field visits, and coordination with institutions, partners, and donors. Over the years, the problem has resulted in tangible consequences, including ecological degradation and increased safety risks for surrounding communities.

The Minister expressed full readiness for institutional cooperation and underscored the priority of protecting and restoring rivers as public and natural assets. In this context, addressing Mirusha should be viewed as part of a broader, strategic approach to the sustainable management of water resources in the country.

Ecopana will continue its engagement with the same level of professionalism and consistency. The groundwork has been laid through research and dialogue. The next phase requires implementation, accountability, and measurable results.
